Man injured in crash south of St. Stephen

A 24-year-old St. Paul man was injured Saturday when the car he was driving veered off CR 2 about one mile south of St. Stephen and hit the guard rail.

The crash, reported at 4:16 p.m., happened at the intersection with Tallow Road, according to the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver, Karl Nonnemacher Larson, was transported to St. Cloud Hospital. According to Sheriff Don Gudmundson, Larson’s airbags did not deploy and it is unknown if he was wearing his seat belt. It is believed Larson was under the influence of a controlled substance.
