Following a fifth-place finish in the diving preliminaries on Nov. 14, and the swimming preliminaries on Nov. 15, the Sabres rallied to a fourth-place team finish Nov. 16 at the State Tournament at the University of Minnesota
Senior Darah Coleman broke a 25-year school record in the 100 breast with a 1:03.95 (previously held by Sarah Krueger – 1993). Coleman’s time was an All-American Consideration time and placed her second in the event. The 200 Medley Relay team of Hedlund, Coleman, Heidi Lenarz and Liberty Johnson placed third and set a new school record with a time of 1:48.63 (previously held by Anna Ellis, Lindsay Martens, Marena Kouba, Jennifer Thompson – 2014).
The Sabres’ other top eight finalists were: Lenarz (200 IM – eighth). Coleman (100 fly – sixth), and the 200 free relay ( Johnson, Kristin Martens, Lauren Lindmeier, Lauryn Kramer – seventh) and 400 free relay (Kramer, Lenarz, Hedlund, Martens – fourth). Hedlund also had a fast finals time in the 100 back, winning the consolation heat in a time of 58.85 that was the sixth-fastest time overall. The Sabres had 14 out of 17 entries advance to finals (top 16). Sartell’s State team results:
