Oct. 29
8:18 a.m. Vehicle accident. CR 75/CR 3. Drive 1 was in left lane westbound on CR 75 approaching CR 3. Driver 1 said child started screaming so driver looked back and when resumed driving crashed into vehicle 2. Driver 1 said the light was green as she was approaching intersection but then turned red after looking back. Driver 2 stated he was southbound on CR 3 and stopped at intersection when red light but upon green light started moving forward to take left onto CR 75. Front right of vehicle 1 hit front of vehicle 2. No apparent injuries.

8:28 p.m. Suspicious smell. Iris Lane E. Caller stated it smelled like someone was burning leaves or something illegal. He stated the whole neighborhood had a smoke or haze. Officer was unable to locate any fires, but there was smoke all over town.
Oct. 31
11:07 a.m. Missing item. Date Street W. Complainant reported a missing rifle missing from his home. He stated he brought it hunting in November 2021 and is certain brought it back home and put it in the front bedroom of his house with the rest of his firearms. He said has all of his firearms in cases, but not locked up. Unknown when it went missing. Only one neighbor has been in his house since and complainant said he will talk to that neighbor. Complainant said he had torn his house apart looking for the rifle and a short time later found the rifle in a different case in a different bedroom.
Nov. 1
11:24 a.m. Found item. Elm Street S. Staff at Coborn’s called to report they had someone find a Fitbit in their parking lot. Officer picked up the Fitbit and transported it to the police department to put into found property. Fitbit watch pink in color.
12:43 p.m. Found item. Minnesota Street E. Someone dropped off a credit card that had been found on Minnesota Street E. in the 100 block. Officer tried looking for a phone number and was unsuccessful. Placed into found property.
Nov. 4
11:35 a.m. Dog at large. Kale Court/295th Street. Complainant called asking for an officer to check the area for a loose dog. The complainant stated a chocolate lab has been roaming the area and is an ongoing issue. The complainant wanted the owners talked to about a dog running at large. The complainant did not know who the owner was but believed the dog was in the area. Officer was unable to locate any dogs outside.
11:41 a.m. Road rage incident. CR 75/20th Avenue SE. Officer was dispatched to a road rage complaint. The complainant stated he was at a red light behind a silver Volkswagon hatchback car. The driver of the VW started waving his hands out the window to get the complainant to pull over. The driver then let the complainant pass and got behind him and tailgated him Minnesota Street/College Avenue. The driver of the VW then continued west. Complainant was unable to get a license plate but stated the driver was a white man with longer dark hair, facial hair and sunglasses. Another vehicle pulled up to the complainant and stated the driver of the VW was crazy. No collision occurred and the complainant never spoke or gestured to the driver of the VW. Officer followed the complainant to the St. Joseph Meat Market and checked the area.
Nov. 5
8:02 p.m. Illegal dumping. 19th Avenue NE. Complainant had called and reported a vehicle with Minnesota plates was dumping trash in his dumpster. Officer observed the vehicle and the storage units. Officer told suspect he could either remove all the items from the dumpster that he put in there or receive a citation. He decided to remove the items. Officer called complainant back and told him to let police know if there were any other items in there that he believed were thrown in by suspect.
Nov. 6
1:56 a.m. Road hazard. Third Avenue SW and Memorial Park. Officers found two dumpsters tipped over in these locations. The dumpster at Third Avenue was blocking the alleyway. Officers were able to push it so a car could fit through if need be. The other dumpster is located in the parking lot of Memorial Park. Officer notified day shift to contact city maintenance and possibly the garbage company.

6:45 p.m. 911 hang-up. Minnesota Street W. Office was dispatched to a 911 hang up at the legion. We have had several calls to this business in regards to phone issues. Checked with staff and everyone is OK. They stated nobody called 911. No issues were found.
Nov. 9
10:36 a.m. Vehicle accident. CR 75/Second Avenue NW. Officer responded and spoke with individuals involved and determined there were no injuries. Vehicle # 1 was facing northbound at the stop sign of Second Avenue NW and was attempting to take a left and go westbound on CR 75. The driver of vehicle 1 stated a vehicle going eastbound on CR 75 took the turn lane to turn right and go southbound on Second Avenue NW. Driver of vehicle #1 said he didn’t see anyone else coming so he pulled out. Officer learned vehicle 2 was eastbound on CR 75 in the left lane approaching Second Avenue NW. Driver of vehicle 2 said he was driving the speed limit. Officer learned as vehicle 2 approached Second Avenue NW that front of vehicle 1 hit the front passenger side of vehicle 2. Photos taken.
Nov. 11
7:39 a.m. Accident with injuries. Fourth Avenue SE/Minnesota Street. Officer dispatched to a crash with possible injuries and found two vehicles involved, with heavy damage. Vehicle 1 had had front-end passenger side damage. Vehicle 2 had heavy front-end damage. Officer met with both drivers. Driver of vehicle 1 stated he left Caseys gas station, was messing with his door trying to get it to close tight and ran the stop sign. Driver of vehicle 2 was eastbound on Minnesota Street E., when she said vehicle 1 ran stop sign and she couldn’t stop and struck vehicle 1. Both vehicles towed.
9:51 a.m. Police squad accident. 12th Avenue SE/Minnesota Street. Officers arrived on scene and spoke with all parties. Driver 1 reported traveling north on 12th Avenue SE and rolling the stop sign causing a T-bone crash with Unit 2 squad westbound on Minnesota Street E. State accident report filed.
Nov. 13
1:42 p.m. Found item. Callaway Street E. A wallet was dropped off at police department. Police contacted owner and wallet was picked up. Owner claims cash in wallet was missing.
Nov. 14
7:21 a.m. Police squad accident. CR 75/20th Avenue SE. Officer arrived to squad-involved crash; investigation completed. Unit #1 was eastbound on CR 75. Unit #2 activated emergency lights and sirens and turned left westbound onto CR 75 from 20th Avenue SE. Due to road conditions unit #1 was unable to stop in time to avoid the crash. No injuries reported. Both vehicles drivable. State accident report filed.
9:44 am. City-owned vehicle/semi accident. CR 75/Northland Drive. Officer responded to crash between a city owned lawnmower/snow sweeper and a semi. No injuries. Officer called Waite Park police to investigate crash due to conflict of interest. St. Joseph officer stood by with lights for officer safety.
