May 28
11:43 p.m. Traffic stop. CR 1/River Vista Lane. Officers were patrolling when they observed a vehicle passing the road-closed barricades. Officer made a traffic stop and spoke with the driver and advised them of the barricade violation. When the officer asked for the driver’s license, they stated they didn’t have one and only had a permit. The driver was given an instruction-permit citation and a warning for the barricade violation.

May 29
8:43 p.m. Stalled vehicle. Pinecone Road S./Sixth Street S. Officers were on patrol when they came across a stalled vehicle blocking traffic. The officer provided emergency lights for the driver who was waiting for a family member to return with fuel for the vehicle. Once the family member arrived, they filled the vehicle and were able to move out of the way.

May 30
1:39 p.m. Ordinance. Seventh Street N. Our department received a complaint about a boat and trailer having been parked on the street for multiple days. Officer spoke with the registered owner of the vehicles and informed them of the 72-hour on- street parking ordinance. The homeowner stated they would have the vehicles moved.

May 31
1:48 p.m. Fraud. The caller reported they received a call from someone claiming to be with Wells Fargo Bank stating they were in trouble for money laundering for having open accounts in Texas. The caller was instructed to put money on two Target gift cards for $380 each. The suspect told the caller they would pay the money back the next day, however they never showed up. The victim was scammed out of $760.

June 1
12:59 p.m. Suspicious vehicle. Eighth Avenue N. Officers responded to the area of Morningstar Park for a report of a black SUV throwing firecrackers at bicyclists and pedestrians. Officers searched the area and did not locate the vehicle. No one walking in the area saw anything suspicious.

June 2
12:43 p.m. Medical. Riverside Avenue S. Officers responded to a medical at the Holiday Station. Officers met with the caller who stated her son had hit his head while playing outside. The boy was conscious but was very out of it. Officers stayed on scene until Mayo arrived and took the boy to the hospital.

June 3
10:12 a.m. Hit and run. Pinecone Road S./CR 120. Officers were dispatched to a hit- and-run complaint. The caller stated they were stopped at the lights when the vehicle in front of them started to back up and struck the front bumper of her vehicle and took off. The caller stated they tried to move the vehicle forward when the lights changed but couldn’t get it to move. The vehicle had minor damage to the front bumper. The vehicle was towed from the scene. The suspect vehicle and driver are unknown.

June 4
9:12 a.m. Traffic stop. Riverside Avenue S. Officers were patrolling when they saw a vehicle traveling faster than the posted speed limit. Officers stopped the vehicle and spoke to the driver. When asked for this license, the driver stated he didn’t have it with him in the car but did have a photo of it on his phone. While during the traffic stop, officers learned the driver’s license was revoked. The driver was issued a citation for the revoked license and given a warning for speeding.

June 5
8:27 a.m. Vandalism. First Street NE. Officers were dispatched to a vandalism report at Val Smith Park. Officers arrived to find the porta potty was tipped over, the swings were all wound up around the top bar and the picnic tables were all vertical. Public works workers were called to fix the issues. No suspects currently.

June 6
2:41 p.m. Dog complaint. Edinburgh Street. Our department received a complaint about a dog repeatedly barking. Officers spoke with the homeowner about the complaint, who advised they had been warned before about the barking. Officers advised the next time they arrive for the same complaint it would most likely result in a citation. The homeowners said they understood.

June 7
3:16 p.m. Fraud. The victim stated they were looking to apply for a loan and thought they were talking to a bank loan officer. The scammer told the victim for them to approve the loan, they would need to buy $1,500 in gift cards and send them login credentials for their banking information. Once completed, the victim began noticing checks were being deposited into their account from people they did not know. The bank called the victim about the fraudulent activity and froze the account. The victim was scammed out of $1,500.

June 8
11:51 a.m. Theft. Roberts Road. Officers were dispatched to a theft report. The property manager stated someone accessed the building with one of their tenant’s key-fobs and took the television off the wall in the commons area. The value of the TV is roughly $1,000. The manager stated they do have cameras in the area and believe they know who took the TV. They stated they would call back if they needed anymore help recovering the item.

June 9
10:05 p.m. Fireworks complaint. 2-½ Street N. Officers responded to a fireworks complaint. The caller believed they heard fireworks going off in the area. Officers checked the area but found no evidence of fireworks. This was one of several fireworks’ complaint calls officers responded to within the city around this time.

June 10
10:17 a.m. Traffic stop. Riverside Avenue S. Officers were on patrol when they observed a vehicle traveling faster than the posted speed limit. The officer conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver who stated they had just gotten off work and didn’t realize their speed. Officers issued the driver a citation for driving 45 mph in a 30-mph zone.
