Isaac Knoernschild, a seventh-grader in Sartell, has qualified for national competition in a history competition in Washington, D.C.
He will represent the school district, the cities of Sartell and St. Stephen, and the state of Minnesota in the Middle School National Championship, which is hosted by International Academic Competitions. At the event, Knoernschild will compete with students from throughout the United States in the “History” category.
In November, Knoernschild took an online exam and competed in a regional competition in January. To prepare for competition, he took a 10th-grade-level world history class. His favorite class is social studies.
