Feb. 4
8:53 a.m. Property damage. Third Avenue N. The caller explained they were driving when they looked down and struck some mailboxes with their side mirror. The caller stated they were able to speak with one of the mailbox owners but not the other. Officers attempted to contact the other owner but got no answer, so they left a business card. A while later the homeowner called the officer back who explained what happened to their mailbox and provided the drivers’ phone number to them so they could take care of the damage.
Feb. 6
4 p.m. Crash. Pinecone Road/Central Park Boulevard. Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash in the area. The driver of the first vehicle stopped at a stop sign on Central Park Boulevard, waiting to turn right onto Pinecone Road, when it was struck by another vehicle that was turning from Pinecone onto Central Park Boulevard. The driver of the second vehicle stated when they started to make the turn, the car began to slide on the snow- packed road causing the collision. The officer helped exchange insurance information and both drivers went on their way.
Feb. 7
1:58 p.m. Fraud. 501 Pinecone Road. The victim stated they were going through a background check for a job, when they were alerted they had two student loans in her name that were opened last year. Both loans totaled more than $3,000. The victim stated the IRS couldn’t give any information until a police report was filed. The victim is not out any money, but is hoping the report will clean up their credit score.
Feb. 10
4:04 p.m. Suspicious incident. 13th Street N. The victim stated they located some information on TikTok where someone was offering $2.5 million to people in need. The victim responded to the ad and was given information on how to gain and transfer money. The victim stated they were not out any money but did send the scammer a photo and their address. Officers advised these types of scams are common and stated since no information was given to just monitor their credit for anything unusual.
Feb. 12
12:38 p.m. Property found. 11th Avenue E. A resident dropped off two opened packages they had found in their yard that belonged to two different people. Officers were able to locate the owner of each package and attempted to contact them. The first owner stated there was nothing missing from their package despite it being opened. The second owner’s package was ripped in half and empty. The owner was not home at the time but left a message to contact police if they wanted to report the theft.
Feb. 14
8:16 a.m. Crash. Evergreen Drive/CR 1. Officers were dispatched to a crash involving a school bus. The driver of the bus stated they were both stopped and the vehicle in front started to go, the bus driver looked to the left for traffic and didn’t realize the car in front had stopped again causing a rear-end crash. Both vehicles suffered minor damage. Two students were on the bus at the time of the crash but neither were injured.
Feb. 16
3:17 p.m. Dispute. Roberts Road. Officers were called to a verbal dispute between a daughter and father. Officers learned there was an argument over cleaning her room. Both parties stated they get upset and have tempers when frustrated. The daughter agreed to leave for the rest of the day to cool off.
