Readers of the Sartell Newsleader will have archived access to political news stories and political letters to editor through a link called “Meet the Candidates” on the newspaper’s website.
To access the link, first type in the Sartell Newsleader website: www.thenewsleaders.com
Once the page opens, you will see Sartell News on the left and St. Joseph News on the right. Just above “Sartell News” is a black bar. At the left edge of the bar it says “Meet the Candidates.” Click on that.
On the Meet the Candidates page, you will see a series of orange tabs. On the right side of the page are the orange tabs for the City of Sartell. Under each tab are the names of the candidates for that particular office. For example, under the orange tab that says “Sartell Council,” you will see the names Amy Braig-Lindstrom, Sandra Cordie, Steven Hennes and Mike “Spike” Piotrowski. If you click on one of the names, you will see that candidate’s answers to a questionnaire submitted to him or her by the Sartell Newsleader.
Later this month, all of the school-board candidates questionnaire responses will also be published under the orange tab when they also are published in the newspaper. Their names and questionnaires will be under “District 748 School Board.” Because of space considerations in the printed newspaper, the only candidates who received questionnaires were those for the Sartell City Council and for the Sartell-St. Stephen School Board. The others, in the other orange-tab categories, have only their names listed.
Other features of the “Meet the Candidates” link include letters to editor endorsing or criticizing candidates, a list of the polling places in Sartell and the polling place for St. Stephen. Under “Sartell Ballot,” readers can see a list of the names and constitutional-amendment questions that will appear on the ballots in both the west and east sides of Sartell.
All of the information, as it accumulates on the “Meet the Candidates” link will remain there until after the Nov. 6 election. They will be posted on the link right after they appear in the print newspaper. Each Friday, readers should note the headlines for candidate questionnaire responses will not appear under the “News” tab of the “Sartell News” section of the home page. So if readers want to see which candidate responses were published, they should go to the “Meet the Candidates” link to see the complete cumulative list of candidates.
