The Sartell-St. Stephen School Board will host a community open forum from 5-6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15 in the gymnasium at the District Service Center (old elementary school).
The purpose of the forum is to allow the public to address issues and/or raise concerns affecting the district and its schools.
The forum will be in the gymnasium to allow for more people than would fit into the school-board room, and time for comments will be extended to one hour rather than the usual half-hour alloted during regular board meetings.
This expanded open forum will take the place of the usual public forum at the board meeting.
“As elected officials responsible to our community and accountable for continuous improvement, I believe it is important for us to be available to our constituents as active listeners,” said Dr. Dan Riordan, school-board chairman. “We have been asked by our community for this opportunity, and I believe it’s the right thing to do. We have an excellent school system supported greatly by our community. Our board has been growing to be more open and responsive. I believe hosting this listening session is in step with our progress in serving the needs of our community.”
The board will move into its regularly scheduled business meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the District Service Center board room following the forum in the gymnasium.
