During Roman times when a general would parade through Rome after a victory, a dwarf would accompany him on the back of his chariot and whisper to him as he road, “you are mortal,” or “you are not a god” and “you have to die – glory is fleeting.”
Allow me to be the dwarf. This might help those 66.86 percent to understand what they voted for. At this point, it won’t change the results. What is important is to remind again the 66.86 percent what they actually voted for. I’m sure as they get reminded at every description of Trump’s behavior they will find an excuse to justify that behavior and that is their right in our democracy.
OK, so the dwarf speaks. Here are just some of the offenses committed by the president-elect, Donnie: 1) A man who is on tape bragging about grabbing women’s genitals and who was found liable by a jury for sexual abuse. 2) A man whose failure as a businessman resulted in six bankruptcies including that of a casino – remember the Taj Mahal? 3) A man convicted of 34 felonies for trying to cover up an affair with a porn star to help his election chances. 4) A man indicted on charges of threatening a government official to find enough votes to reverse a state election loss and then for inciting a violent insurrection – remember Jan. 6?
These offenses by Donnie are not new, but were accepted as normal by the 66.86 percent of voters in Benton and Stearns counties. There are multiple examples of other offenses committed by Donnie and maybe, because there are so many Stearns and Benton county Republicans they have a hard time remembering them all. But here again the dwarf speaks. As Donnie places his hand on the Bible and swears to uphold the Constitution, remember this: The man who is president and who will occupy the White House for the next four years is a convicted rapist.
