The Sartell Sabres football team scored a dramatic squeak-by victory over St. Cloud Tech Oct. 5 at Husky Field on the St. Cloud State University campus.
The Sabres’ seasonal record is now 5 wins, 1 loss – with two more games on its schedule.
Tech had the lead throughout most of the game. At half time, the score was Tech 14, Sartell 0. Sartell began to catch up, and in the final moments a 3-yard touchdown by Jack Wenzel with a pass from Parker Hagen tied the game. A kick over the goalposts by Sabre Cody Partch clinched the win.
The Sabres’ only loss so far was to Fergus Falls a couple of weeks ago. The team’s next games are at Willmar Oct. 12 and Bemidji Oct. 17. Both are away games.
As of Oct. 5, Moorhead, which is also a member of the Central Lakes Conference League, as is Sartell, had a perfect record of 6 wins, no losses.
