Retired Sartell firefighters are eager and willing to help senior citizens change their smoke-detector batteries.
Some seniors have trouble changing batteries because of age, disabilities or trouble in figuring out how to put the batteries in the gizmos.
Members of Retired Firefighters Engine Co. 844 have scheduled two time blocks for battery-changing: Oct. 1-5 and Oct. 15-19.
Any senior who needs help should call the Sartell Police Department at 258-7365 and leave their name, address and phone number. Retired firefighters will then contact the seniors to set up a time for a battery-changing visit.
