Man arrested in Sartell burglary

A St. Cloud man was arrested and jailed after being nabbed at the scene of a burglary in progress in Sartell.

Sartell police arrested Richard Alan Staples Jr., 18, at 6:50 a.m. Sunday, June 24 at a residence in the 1100 block of 11th Street N. A witness had seen a male in a car who appeared to be prowling around and called police. After Staples’ arrest, police determined he had entered an attached garage at the residence where he stole a bicycle and some alcohol. Other residents of that area have reported the theft of money from their vehicles.

Staples is expected to be charged with fourth-degree burglary, receiving stolen property, criminal damage to property, tampering with a motor vehicle, theft and underage consumption.
According to the Sartell police report, Staples remains in the Stearns County Jail.

Police continue to advise all residents: Keep vehicles locked and keep valuable items out of vehicles.
