A neighbor in the Klinefelter Park area of St. Joseph contacted the Newsleader to report incidents of vandalism while taking a morning walk in the park the morning of Sunday, July 17.
On the path near the pond, a woman out for a morning walk noticed a concrete garbage container had been rolled into the creek by a walking bridge. She also saw that a park bench had been yanked off its bolts, moved and tipped over. Then she noticed a mailbox on Seventh Avenue S. by the park had been ripped off its pedestal and tossed on the lawn by the road.
Klinefelter Park is in southeast St. Joseph. It was named for Brian Klinefelter, a 25-year-old police officer who was shot and killed during a traffic stop on Jan. 29, 1996.
Anyone who has a clue who the vandal or vandals are should call the St. Joseph Police Department at 320-363-7201.
