Stearns County license centers will not be able to process any driver’s license renewals on Friday, Sept. 28, while the state of Minnesota updates the system for REAL ID.
Beginning Monday, Oct. 1, Minnesota residents can start applying for REAL ID. The REAL ID Act establishes minimum security standards for state-issued driver’s licenses and ID cards that passengers will need to board a commercial airliner.
Other license services such as birth and death certificates, motor vehicle transactions, marriage licenses, DNR registrations and passports will be available Sept. 28.
