A Sartell Boy Scout, Luke Hintgen, plans to do an Eagle Scout project for the city at its community garden near Oak Ridge Elementary School.
Hintgen told the City Council he would like to replace the old, inadequate storage shed at the garden with a new one measuring 12 by 16 feet. The current one is 8 by 10. The shed serves as storage for gardening tools and other supplies used by the nearly 100 city-resident gardeners who have their own plots in the garden.
Hintgen, a member of Sartell Troop 211, said he is currently trying to raise $3,000 for the shed project. It will require wall framing, siding, roofing and shingling, he noted. He intends to do the project in early May.
The council commended him for his work.
“I think it’s a great project,” said council member Mike Chisum. “Congratulations.”
