Sartell
As you decide how to cast your votes for Sartell-St. Stephen School Board on Nov. 5, I ask you to consider what the most important qualities are for these positions. Members of our school board are trusted with leading the school district through policy governance. It is their job to establish policies, oversee the budget, set the strategic direction and manage their one employee, the superintendent.
The board delegates the execution of day-to-day school district operations to the superintendent, and the outstanding staff of School District 748. Our schools continue to be some of the highest performing in the state, which is a major source of pride for residents.
I have been involved as a classroom volunteer, Special Education Advisory Committee Member, substitute teacher, full-time teacher and served on our school board for eight years. I know what it takes to be a high performing school-board member. We need candidates who are visionary leaders and who can set strategic direction, understand the complex details of school finance and are willing to set aside their personal differences to look out for the needs of all students.
We need candidates willing to vote for needed facilities’ improvements like HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) at Riverview. We need candidates who want their kids in our schools. We need candidates who are endorsed by the teachers’ union. If you agree, please join me in voting for Tricia Meling, Matt Moehrle and Chelsea Thielen
